I've been trading ideas via Twitter with a friend who just received her first iPhone. She and I are both extraordinarily practical women, so it was no surprise that our ideas for interesting applications for the iPhone include Facebook, Twitter, The Weather Channel, Internet Radio Tuner, Wine Log, and the ever-practical Quad Level. But my favorite application mirrors one of my favorite internet websites, Pandora Radio. Pandora's musical box is usually playing from my laptop or iPhone and sometimes from both simultaneously.
One of my uniquely-created "radio stations" at Pandora reflects my interest in Celtic/New Age music. Named for one of my favorite musical compositions of this genre, Adiemus, my near-perfect station features music from groups like Secret Garden and Epica, soloists like Hayley Westenra, Sissel, and Emma Shapplin, instrumentalists like Aine Minogue, Myleene Klass, and Loreena McKennitt, and composers like Karl Jenkins, Howard Shore and Trevor Jones. Where else could I listen to these unique artists and their offerings and then click the mouse to change to Bach or Mozart or even Kenny Chesney? Enjoy creating your own personalized station or listen to one of the genre stations already established.
How appropriate that, as I close this post, Adiemus, the tune that names one of my own stations, is serenading me.
